Thank You!

Thank you for your interest in helping provide over 1,000 Altoona Area Elementary students with essential nutrition out of school. One of the most essential volunteer roles in the program is helping to pack food items each week to send home. We can accommodate individuals or groups over the age of 8 (children under the age of 8 are welcome to come but may not be able to participate in packing). Packing is held every Thursday throughout the school year, unless there is no school Friday. in those cases packing nights are the night before the last day of school that week.

Packing begins at the warehouse at 5pm.  Please arrive early, so we are ready to start at 5pm.

Individual volunteers can simply show up at the warehouse. There will be a hold harmless form along with a sign-in sheet.

Need additional assistance?

Have questions about volunteering, or you'd like to sign up a large group, simply contact Blair County Community Action at 814-946-3651.

Volunteer Information

In the event of schedule changes, announcements will be made on the Mountain Lion BackPack Program Facebook page and all group leaders will be notified.  This schedule will only change in the event of changes to the school calendar from the school district or inclement weather.
